These are my first graders at Sanders Clyde Elemntary School. I was placed in this classroom as a teacher's aide when I first volunteered for Communities In Schools in January 2016. I started a library for these students by collecting books from generous doners. These students coud check out a  book from my library every Friday and bring it back to me the following Friday to exchange it for another book. I also kept a journal in their classroom so they could write about their library book. Every time they returned a book, and/or wrote in the journal, they earned a sticker. Every three stickers they earned, they could pick a treasure out of my treasure box, which was filled with toys.

I was asked by Communities In Schools to be the speaker and share my experience as a volunteer with other commited volunteers and employees at the organization's volunteer appreciation party. Please check out my speech!
